What is Therapy Like?

Therapy is personal process. Therefore, it will be different for each individual. Clients and therapists work on mutually developed goals, in order to make the most out of each session. Therapy is a collaborative process. Some of the things you can expect when working with a therapist are discussing your present situation, what brings you to therapy, and history that relates to your current situation. I am trained in a variety of modalities, and I chose interventions and strategies based upon your needs, strengths and what works for you.

My approach to therapy is holistic, which means I take in to account your body, mind and spirit. My approach is also client centered, strengths based and draws upon Interpersonal Process and Person Centered Therapy. I believe your history does not have to dictate your destiny. You can create a life you love to live. My job is to help you remove barriers and obstacles that may be in the way of your doing just that. Your part in this process is equally as important. Ultimately, the goal of therapy is to have you bring what you have learned in sessions, outside of the session and in to your life. At times, I may give you homework to work on in-between sessions; such as putting a new skill in to practice, reading an article, journaling, creating a drawing, or practicing techniques for stress reduction
